'Regular Guys' Fired, Again

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 – updated: 2:34 pm EDT October 24, 2006

It's getting to be a regular thing with the Regular Guys.

For the second time in three years Clear Channel Communications Inc. has fired the morning DJs from WKLS-FM (96 Rock).

The Regular Guys' real names are Larry Wachs and Eric Von Haessler.

The firing comes after a feud between the duo and the morning DJs at fellow Clear Channel station Viva 105.7, Juan Tapia and José Carias, who co-host "Yogi y Panda por la Mañana".

That on-air battle between the morning teams lead to lawsuits filed by Tapia and Carias against Wachs, Von Haessler and Clear Channel.

Tapia and Carias claim the Regular Guys insulted them on the air by questioning their sexual orientation, race and nationality.

The centerpiece of the lawsuit is a Regular Guys stunt from earlier this month.

The Viva 105.7 team claims Wachs followed them into a bathroom at the radio facility and recorded a conversation between them.

Wachs played the conversation on the radio the next day.

On his website Wachs insists Tapia and Carias knew he was recording them. He claims the two were shouting insults at him in Spanish.

The Regular Guys has been off the air since last week.
