Nefertiti Jaquez

Nefertiti Jáquez joins the WSB-TV team in May 2016.

Prior to coming to Atlanta, she was with NBC10 in Philadelphia, where she had been a lead reporter since 2013. 

Nefertiti is an Emmy Award-winning journalist with a reputation for landing exclusive interviews.

In her career, she has covered everything from political scandals to major hurricanes to celebrity news. She has also interviewed President Barack Obama and landed an exclusive with the family of the Navy SEAL who led the mission to kill Osama bin Laden.

She also takes great pride in becoming an ambassador for the Layla Grace Foundation after doing a three-part story on Layla Marsh – a Houston toddler who eventually died of Neuroblastoma. Since then, Nefertiti has helped to raise awareness for childhood cancer.

Not only does "Nef," as she often goes by, have experience working as a journalist in several large markets, she has also trained with the FBI and Homeland Security.

Prior to NBC10, Jáquez worked at NBC Affiliate, KPRC, in Houston, Fox 29 in Philadelphia and started her career at CBS4 in Miami.

Nefertiti is a native of Rhode Island, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She studied at Brown University in Providence, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in American Politics and Public Policy with an Independent Study in Journalism.

During college, she was chosen to participate in the prestigious Emma L. Bowen Foundation's internship program. It was through the program that she worked at WJAR in Rhode Island, where she realized she had a passion for television news.

In her spare time, she does volunteer work for various charities and mentors young women. Nefertiti is also very committed to helping women who have experienced domestic violence or any other type of abuse.

Nefertiti has been featured in Latina Magazine, the Houston Chronicle, The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News and Philadelphia Magazine, and was voted, “One Of The Delaware Valley’s Most Influential People.”

She and her rescue dog, Mud, now call Atlanta home.
