NASCAR Hands Out Stiff Penalties To Gibbs Racing

(Sports Network) - NASCAR came down hard on Joe Gibbs Racing Wednesday for cheating during Saturday's Nationwide Series race.

Drivers Tony Stewart and Joey Logano were each stripped of 150 points and their respective crew chiefs, Jason Ratcliff and Dave Rogers, were suspended indefinitely.

Ratcliff and Rogers were also fined $50,000 each, and five other crew members were suspended indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Joe Gibbs, owner of both of the cars, has also was penalized 150 championship owner points for each car.

Stewart finished third in Saturday's race at Michigan International Speedway in the No. 20 car and Logano was seventh in the No. 18. After the race, inspectors found magnets under the gas pedals of both cars in an attempt to mask each cars' horsepower.
