ATLANTA -- The cost of air travel isn't getting any cheaper.

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, airfare costs have jumped 14 percent in the past year. But, you can still find travel deals and consumer advisor Clark Howard can show you how.

Marilyn and Carson Lee are about to go on a 12-day cruise in Europe. They live near an airport in South Carolina, but flew out of Atlanta to save some money. They also saved by renting a car for the drive.

"We rented one for economy, just to bring the luggage and us down here. It was less expensive than parking for the time we're going to be gone," said Carson Lee.

Finding the deals takes some time, but Clark Howard said it's worth it.

Dexter Burns flew on Spirit Airlines and got a great deal.

"My niece looked it up on the Internet for me, gave me the information and that's where I got it from," said Burns.

”Hotels are hurting big time as the economy slows. I'm finding the best bargains I've found in a long, long time on Hotwire and Priceline,” said Clark. “Stick with 4 star hotels only.”

”For cars, the car rental companies are offering the best deals they've had in at least four years,” said Clark. “Hertz has a rental deal right now that gives you a free tank of gas. You have to rent a vehicle for at least three days and book online with the promo code 113120.”

”And airlines? Here's what you should do. Sign up with every airlines frequent flyer program and then they'll email you private sale deals,” said Clark.

There's a website called Vacation Rentals By Owner- http://www.vrbo.com. It's where people who own a place at the beach, mountains, or your favorite vacation spot, rent it out when they’re not using it, and you save big bucks by renting.
