New American Girl Movie to Cost $20

POSTED: 4:36 pm EDT May 16, 2008
UPDATED: 5:00 pm EDT May 16, 2008

Kit Kittredge is the American Girl doll whose life is set during the depression. But when you buy your ticket to "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl", you'll know it's not 1934 anymore.

Back in '34, it cost about $24 to rent a house for a month. Today, one ticket for the "Kit" movie will set you back $20.

That's not a typo. Here's the explanation: "With the purchase of each premium ticket ($20) the patron will receive a limited edition t-shirt." If you pay with American Express plastic (which might be how you will need to finance it) you also get a full color edition program.

For that price, you might consider buying your child a "Kit" doll and paperback book about her life. Except that will cost you $95.

"Kit" opens in select cities, including Alpharetta, next month. Tickets went on sale today.
