Kroger Issues Statewide Recall Of Some Containers Of 'Private Selection' Ice Cream

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin sent out an alert regarding the recall Tuesday afternoon.

The recall is due to unlisted ingredients -- eggs, soy and wheat -- that could be problems for some consumers.

The recall affects two codes of Private Selection Light Churned Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream in 1.75-quart containers with a "Sell By" date of December 3, 2008, sent to Kroger stores in the southeast.

The two codes, DEC0308 8070 and DEC0308 8080, are being recalled because the ice cream may contain egg, soy and wheat, three allergens which are not listed in the ingredient statement.

The ice cream was distributed by Inter-American Products, Inc., a division of The Kroger Co., to stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

No other Private Selection Ice Cream products are affected by this recall. No illnesses have been reported.

Customers are encouraged to return the product to their Kroger store for a full refund.

Consumers with questions or concerns may call Inter-American Products, Inc. at 1-800-697-2448.
