Orioles Recall P Cherry

Baltimore, MD -- (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles recalled pitcher Rocky Cherry from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.The move fills the roster spot opened when the Orioles traded reliever Chad Bradford to Tampa Bay on Thursday for a player to be named later. Cherry started the season on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain, and was optioned to Norfolk when he came off the DL on May 23. The 28-year-old right-hander went 0-1 with a 2.89 earned run average in 28 games for Norfolk. In 12 appearances with the Cubs last season, Cherry went 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA. Chicago traded Cherry to Baltimore on August 31 last season along with infielder Scott Moore in exchange for pitcher Steve Trachsel.
