Wood Put On DL

Thursday, July 24, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs placed pitcher Kerry Wood on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a blister on his right index finger. The move is retroactive to July 14.

The Cubs will make a corresponding roster move prior to their game against the Marlins on Friday afternoon.

Wood, a 2008 All-Star, has gone 4-2 with 24 saves in 29 opportunities and a 3.02 earned-run average in 44 appearances this season. Through his 14 years with the North-Siders, the oft-injured righty has amassed a 76-59 record with 24 saves and a 3.64 ERA in 255 games (178 starts). Wood's 1,378 strikeouts rank third in club history.
