Giants Shortstop Vizquel Injures Foot

Saturday, July 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - San Francisco Giants shortstop Omar Vizquel left Saturday's 8-5 setback to the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth inning after fouling a ball off his left foot.

Vizquel was able to finish his at-bat against Mitch Stetter with a walk but was replaced by pinch-runner Ivan Ochoa, who eventually scored on a Randy Winn ground out. Ochoa remained in the game at shortstop

"I haven't had a chance to talk to the trainers yet," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "My guess is he will probably need tomorrow off and with that he'll be fine."

The 11-time Gold Glove winner Vizquel went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk, scoring once with an RBI. Vizquel is batting .167 on the year with 10 RBI and 15 runs scored in 48 games.
