Minor League Player Hits In 43 Straight Games

Ottawa, ON -- (Sports Network) - Brandon Watson extended his hitting streak to 43 games on Sunday, breaking a record that stood for 95 years in the International League.Watson was only 1-for-5 in a 9-8, 11-inning Clippers loss to Ottawa but his leadoff single off J.D. Durbin in the sixth made history. Watson is batting .360 with 10 RBI during his streak which began May 1. Jack Lelivelt set the IL record for the Rochester Hustlers when he hit in 42 straight during the 1912 season.
