Will anyone catch tjv?
Congratulations to SacofRome and Chilaquiles for going 15-7 last week to lead the way in our league. Our man dannan14 is just 6 games back of overall leader tjv while a trio of OFD staff members are all within striking distance. Thanks for making me look bad, you guys.
Now to this week's games...
Boise State (+7) at BYU
Boise lost their quarterback for the season which explains this line. BYU seems to have found some offense this year and I think they'll come away with a nice 10 to 12 point victory at home.
Houston (+7) at Rutgers
Houston's air raid offense (is that what they're running, whatever just go with it) keeps this close. I'm not sure Rutgers is any great shakes this season.
Oklahoma State (-13) at Iowa State
Pick: Iowa State
Here's your obligatory announcement that this was Okie Light's only loss two years ago. Also it's another reminder that OSU went 12-1, whoa! Okay, I'm not sure the Cowboys have their offense humming the way they'd like, especially at quarterback. Usually their signal callers have gaudy numbers by now but it's not happening this year.
Northwestern (+3.5) at Iowa
Oh, how Northwestern has fallen from grace. It sucks that this was supposed to be the best team of the Fitzgerald era but that's life in Evanston I guess. Is there a more overrated coach in the game? 5-19 against ranked teams, 1-4 in bowl games, never higher than 4th during perhaps the weakest stretch in Big Ten history, well you get the point. Iowa will win this game by let's say 11 points.
Nebraska (-10.5) at Minnesota
The Huskers are expecting T-Magic back for this game. If he's healthy I think they'll have problem rolling.
Vanderbilt (+17) at Texas A&M
Manziel's shoulder injury looked kind of painful. I'm surprised he's playing this weekend but he did gut out the loss to Auburn. I don't know, with A&M's awful defense I'm taking the points even though the 'Dores are without their starting QB.
Pittsburgh (-6) at Navy
Our next two opponents are playing each other. Scouting report heaven! It's seems to me that Pitt has faded into the shadows since their loss to FSU to start the year. Chryst has been trying to improve the Panthers but it's just not working. However, I think Navy's been on decline for a few years now. Pitt covers.
Clemson (-14) at Maryland
Lock of the week. Especially with those big injuries to the Terps offensive playmakers.
Texas Tech (+6.5) at Oklahoma
Will the Red Raiders really move to 8-0? I just can't see it. The Sooners will hand Koach Kliff his first loss this weekend and I think this one might be a semi-blowout. I'm calling it right now.
Tennessee (+28.5) at Alabama
I guess they are thinking the Vols are all beat up with their recent tough schedule? I know it's Bama and everything but this is a ton of points against a SEC team with somewhat of a pulse. This has 35-10 but it was 24-0 at halftime written all over it.
West Virginia (+10.5) at Kansas State
Pick: West Virginia
K-State did some nice things against Baylor a couple weeks ago but they're still winless against every good team they've come up against. I don't think the Wildcats have the ability to beat WVU by double-digits.
Utah (+7) at USC
The Trojans are battered and bruised. The Utes offense is potent enough to stick around and make this a game.
Notre Dame (+20) at Air Force
Pick: Notre Dame
How much complaining will there be if the Irish don't cover?
South Carolina (+3) at Missouri
Pick: South Carolina
It's a big game for the SEC East. The Tigers winning---and putting a stranglehold on the division---seems too easy.
Wyoming (+7) at San Jose State
If only because I think I've picked SJSU about 5 times this season and been burned every time.
UCLA (+23) at Oregon
Did you know UCLA is 5-4 in their last 9 games? I really wonder how good they are? We'll find out this weekend.
Georgia State (+11.5) at Louisiana-Monroe
Pick: Georgia State
GSU has been playing better in recent weeks---they're still 0-7---but playing better nonetheless.
Idaho (+41.5) at Ole Miss
Take. The. Points.
Texas (+2) at TCU
Boykin is a running back playing quarterback and the TCU running game isn't all that good. Texas is coming off a bye and should keep its undefeated conference record alive.
Penn State (+15) at Ohio State
Pick: Penn State
Stanford (-4) at Oregon State
Stanford has a real solid pass defense that will defend the potent Beaver passing game really well. Oregon State has had a nice run since week one but I like the Cardinal with a comfortable win.
Colorado State (-3.5) at Hawaii
Pick: Colorado State
There aren't many wins these days out on the islands.
