Florida will start the NCAA tournament as a No. 3 seed in the South region. The Gators begin Friday against 14th-seeded Northwestern State in Austin, Texas.
If UF advances, it would get the winner of 6-seed UCLA vs. 11-seed Minnesota on Sunday.
The top seeds in the South are: 1. Kansas, 2. Georgetown, 3. Florida, 4. Michigan and 5. Virginia Commonwealth.
The regional semifinals and finals will be at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Florida and Georgetown are on track to face each other there, which would provide resolution to their canceled season opener.
The teams tried to play in November aboard the USS Bataan in Mayport, but the game ended at halftime due to condensation on the court.
