Food | Wine,
This month Go Eat Give is taking you on a journey to Cuba at Cruzado in midtown Atlanta. This 1920s landmark makes you feel like you are somewhere in the Caribbean enjoying upscale Latin cuisine. Escape to an evening of Cuban cuisine, culture and entertainment with Go Eat Give at Cruzado Restaurant in June! Enjoy mojitos and other speciality cocktails at the newly opened chic private lounge next to the restaurant. Menu includes popular Cuban fare served in small plates, such as Mini empanadas (Malta braised chicken), Tostones rellenos - (stuffed plantains with chicken), Sorullitos de maíz (corn fritters), Bañuelos (salt cod cakes with green mayo), Arañitas (fried plantain with mayo/ketchup).Keynote speaker for the evening will be Mr. Yovany Jerez. Yovany was raised in Havana, Cuba for the first 12-years of his life. His family endured a 9-month migration trajectory that took them through Panama, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. As an immigrant in the US, Yovany graduated as valedictorian, president of Honor Society, captain of the baseball and swimming team, Boston Athlete of the Year, and as the first Hispanic to become senior class president. He continued his community involvement and held several leadership positions at Dartmouth College, where he graduated in 2003 with AB Sociology and an AB Spanish Literature. Now, Yovany works at AT&T as Corporate Talent Manager. In his downtime, Yovany participates in purpose-driven treks where he raises funds for orphans while visiting some of the world’s most remote and iconic location (including. 2010 Mount Everest in Nepal and 2009 Mt. Cotopaxi in Ecuador). As a special treat, you will also get to hear from food personality and Cruzado restaurant owner, Grace Lee. Grace has contributed to Modern Luxury's The Atlantan, and served as Food Editor for Eide Magazine. She is the official "foodie" for brand names, event planner, and a professional competitive eater, battling NFL and NBA athletes. She won in women's category at the International hot dog eating competition in 2011. Grace is also a Power 30 under 30 recipient. Ticket includes dinner, tax, tips, speaker and entertainment. Free parking and cash bar will be available on site. Portion of proceeds benefit the nonprofit, Go Eat Give, that supports community development efforts internationally.
