East Cobb Friends is holding its Fourth Annual Wine Tasting Gala and silent auction at the Indian Hills Country Club in Marietta on March 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be ample brands of wines to taste, as well as a selection of hors d'oeuvres to sample while enjoying the sounds of "120 East", a local band usually heard at venues around East Cobb. The silent auction will include items of jewelry, sports memorabilia, gift baskets, and vacation get-a-ways to name only a few. Indian Hills Country Club is located at 4001 Clubland Drive, Marietta, Georgia. Tickets are $30 each and may be purchased from any East Cobb Friends member or at the door the night of the event. Proceeds from this event will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, which has locations at Egleston, Scottish Rite, Hughes Spaulding and 17 other neighborhood facilities around metro Atlanta. East Cobb Friends is one of over 35 Community Friends groups throughout the Atlanta metro area that support Children’s Healthcare through fundraising events and special service projects. East Cobb Friends includes women of all ages from a variety of area neighborhoods. The group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, September through May, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at members’ homes and share light refreshments while discussing their latest projects for Children’s. The Wine Tasting Gala is the group’s largest fundraiser each year. In addition to raising funds, the group collects and delivers food and toiletry items for the families of children in intensive care. These donations are a welcome sight to family members who have dropped everything to be at the side of their sick child!
