Six Flags offers thrills, 1 million lights for Holiday in the Park

It's that time of the year; time to check out Christmas lights. Atlanta features several award-winning light displays that dazzle. But for those who like some thrills to go along with the lights, one Atlanta spot should be at the top of the to-do list.

Six Flags Over Georgia's Holiday in the Park returns for its fourth season. The event includes six themed areas, 29 holiday rides, live shows and festive seasonal food.

“Holiday in the Park has become the number one holiday destination in the southeast, as we expand with more rides, more magical sounds of the season and more thrills than ever before,” said Park President Dale Kaetzel.

A visit to Six Flags for Holiday in the Park starts on Main Street. Visitors venture under a 100,000-light canopy. But the lights don't stop there. There's more than 900,000 more in the park.

“This is one of the largest seasonal events in Georgia, featuring eight world-class roller coasters and more than one million LED lights for the biggest and brightest tradition the entire family can enjoy together,” Kaetzel said.

Themed attractions open during Holiday in the Park include the North Pole Express train ride and the Candlelight Carousel. Santa Claus makes nightly visits to meet with kids, too.

Goliath, Batman, Superman,

Georgia Scorcher, Monster Mansion and Metropolis Park are just a few of the rides open during the holiday event.

Holiday in the Park is open weekends through Dec. 17. Starting Dec. 20, it's open daily until Jan. 3 except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
