Celebrate National Cheeseburger Day eating a 9-patty burger

BUFORD, Ga. — Nine beef patties, nine slices of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and a bun; that's a burger!

Hundreds of people celebrated National Cheeseburger Day on Monday trying to eat this behemoth.

Wayback Burgers features the Triple Triple on its menu every day, but on National Cheeseburger Day, the company added a bonus. The person to consume the burger the fastest would win $3,300.

"I've seen people dunking it in water," Wayback Burgers Buford owner Azeem Ratnani told wsbtv.com's Nelson Hicks. "I've seen people cutting it, just chowing it down, all sorts of things."

Molly Schuyler won the competition three times and was the defending champ heading into 2017. While it takes most people who can finish it 15-20 minutes to do so, Schuyler downed one in 38.95 seconds in the 2014 challenge.

Donald Jones gave it his best shot.

"Right when I got it and started eating, I was like, 'This is a big burger,'" Jones said.

Jones finished the final few pieces about 15 minutes after he started.

For those who missed the challenge on Monday, the Triple Triple Challenge is available every day, though there's no monetary prize given outside of Monday's nationwide competition. But for those who consume it fast enough, they'll take home a T-shirt and a full belly.
