Holiday shopping 2017: All the last-minute shipping deadlines

You’ve got the gifts, the wrapping paper and a partridge in a pear tree. All you need now is to know when is the latest possible time you can ship your presents so as not to be late for Christmas.

It's not that you want to intentionally ship at the last minute, but it's just good to know in case you need the extra time. So, we've compiled a list for you so that you can concentrate on getting those last-minute deals that money expert Clark Howard always tells us about.

Last-minute holiday shipping deadlines

Like in years past, scores of stores are participating in Free Shipping Day —Friday, December 15, 2017 — when they will ship packages at no charge with the promise that they will arrive at their destinations before Christmas.

  • December 15 – FedEx Ground shipments (unavailable for delivery on Dec. 23)
  • December 18 – FedEx Home Delivery shipments (available to deliver on Dec. 23 at no additional charge)
  • December 19 — FedEx Express Saver shipments
  • December 20 — FedEx 2-Day and 2-Day a.m. shipments (you may ship 2Day shipments on Dec. 21 for delivery on Saturday, Dec. 23 if Saturday delivery is selected.)
  • December 21 — FedEx Standard Overnight, Priority Overnight, First Overnight shipments
  • December 25 — All FedEx SameDay shipments
