Registration opens for Sickle Cell Road Race

Registration for the Sickle Cell Road Race and Walk opens this weekend. Money raised from the 7k run/walk provides scholarships to the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia's Camp New Hope. The race is Saturday, April 8.

Registration opens for Swim Across America

Swim Across America raised more than $4.5 million dollars to fund clinical trials and cancer research in 2016. This year's Swim Across America - Georgia is September 23 and registration is now open.

Troubadour opens at the Alliance Theatre

The Alliance Theatre is bringing the sound of Nashville to the stage, with original music from a Grammy-award winning recording artist. Troubadour runs now through February 12. Teachers get in free for select performances and there is a special teen price for middle and high schoolers.

Local nonprofit supports grandparents raising grandchildren

Project Healthy Grandparents was founded at Georgia State University in 1995. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of families in which grandparents are raising their grandchildren in parent-absent homes. PHG provides comprehensive health and support services and improved access to community resources. Since 1995, PHG has served more than 3,000 individuals.

Alvin Ailey launches Destination Dance Program

Destination Dance is a new initiative by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre that will bring year-round programming to some of Atlanta's premier cultural organizations. The new partnership will bring Ailey dancers to venues like the Center for Civil and Human Rights.
