The King Center celebrates holiday with community events

To celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, The King Center will be hosting a number of events including the Beloved Community Talk on Monday, January 16 at The King Center. The talk is free and open to the public. The moderator will be ABC News journalist, author and former WSB-TV reporter, Byron Pitts

Alvin Ailey launches pilot dance program

On January 11, Alvin Ailey will present a panel discussion entitled A Legacy of Dreams & Revelations: Shining a Spotlight on Social Issues Past and Present. The discussion will bring Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Robert Battle, longtime Ailey dancer and choreographer Hope Boykin, and the Andrew J. Young Foundation Executive Director Andrea Young come together to discuss the relationship and impact art and social movements, both past and present, have on each other, and how they can connect to be a vehicle for change.

A variety of additional performances & special events, classes & workshops, auditions, and more will take place throughout the year.

Hosea Helps hosts Martin Luther King Jr. Day festival

The annual Hosea Helps MLK Jr. Day Festival of Service is Monday January 16 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center. Organizers still need volunteers to sign up to assist in the dinner event and set up.
