Finley Project offers help and hope to grieving mothers

The Finley Project is hosting a night of shopping and music to raise money for programs supporting mothers who have lost infants. Tickets can be purchased online for the event on March 3 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Venue 92 in Woodstock.

Artist’s exhibit sparks conversation

A new exhibit at the Westside Cultural Arts Center in Northwest Atlanta features the work of Okeeba Jubalo. His art reflects his perspective on the struggle of today's African-American. The exhibit, The Dirty Dozen: Jim Crow Fantasies runs through March 20.

High Museum of Art exhibit brings together diverse artists

A new exhibit at the High Museum brings together more than 200 famous artists. From painting to photography, to modern masters and self-taught artists, there's something for everyone. Cross Country: The Power of Place in American Art, 1915 - 1950 will be at the High Museum through May 7.

Local leaders give students path to success

The Black MBA Association Atlanta Chapter is helping high school students find success through its Leaders of Tomorrow program. The free program offers leadership development, college prep, life skills, and other learning opportunities. The program is currently welcoming new students and volunteers.

Black Women Film Network inspires artists through summit

The Black Women Film Network Summit runs Thursday, March 2 through Saturday, March 4 at various locations.  The three-day cultural celebration will feature screenings, workshops and presentations.

Second Wind Dreams began in 1997 with the goal of "changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams". The nonprofit grants long-time wishes for seniors in addition to offering educational opportunities for caregivers.

UNICEF gives kids power to feed the hungry

UNICEF is partnering with local schools to help get students active while helping hungry children around the world avoid starvation. Blue bands given to students will track activity which unlocks ready-to-use therapeutic food in a peanut paste that will be distributed to malnourished children. You can buy a band to support the UNICEF Kid Power program to help more students get active and save the lives of other children.

Website connects people to needy students

Atlanta Public Schools is raising awareness about a new website connecting people who want to help students in Atlanta who are homeless. The donations are shipped to school social workers, who check out a family's needs.
