11/30/08

Colon Club : As we near the end of the holiday weekend, we thought we'd put together what we're calling a best of show. While we have enjoyed bringing you all of the stories that have come our way this year on People 2 People, there are a few that make our eyes a little brighter and our smiles wider. Take this story for instance. Although colon cancer is the second leading cause of death in the country, it's also a highly treatable disease if caught early. In an effort to raise awareness, a group of creative Colon Cancer survivors are also raising eyebrows as they bare it all to keep you healthy. To order your very own Colandar and for more information about symptoms of Colon Cancer visit the website at www.colondar.com.

Dress for Success: Every year hundreds of women from all over Georgia walk through the doors of local businesses and companies highly qualified and very motivated. Yet, they lack one key ingredient. If you're interested in making a donation or finding out more information about dress for success, go to our website at www.wsbtv.com.

Cool Girls: We can't always build the future for our youth, but we can certainly build our youth for the future. And no one knows that better than the dedicated volunteers who are nurturing cool girls. Cool Girls will host a hot pink party. The fundraiser takes place on Saturday, January 24 at 7 p.m. at Trois, a restaurant here in Atlanta. For more information, visit the website at www.thecoolgirls.org or call 404-420-4362.

Veterans Wall Honor: Someone once wrote we should cherish our vision and our dreams as they are the children of our soul and the blueprints of our ultimate achievement. For the past five years, those words have been a source of comfort and support for Joanne Consalvo Mulvaney, a woman on a mission. We're happy to report the Veterans Wall of Honor was completed in time for this year's Veteran's Day Celebration. More than 2000 people attended the dedication ceremony.
