October:Thanks to the generosity of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Northside Hospital is able to provide funding for women who need a mammogram, but cannot afford one. Funding is available for qualified applicants to receive screening mammograms and breast diagnostic services at Northside Hospital’s Breast Care Center in Atlanta, Northside Alpharetta Women’s Imaging, Northside Hospital Forsyth Outpatient Imaging in Cumming, and Northside Riverstone Imaging in Canton. To qualify for financial assistance, applicants must reside in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fayette, Fulton, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Henry, or Rockdale counties. Additionally women must be 35- years-old or older for screening mammograms, meet income level requirements, have no health insurance, and provide a written order from her physician. Sunday Octobrer 19th: Northside Hospital- In recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, Northside Hospital is honored to annouce the 2008 Atlanta Walk to Remember, Sunday October 19th at 2 PM. The event will be held at the Concourse Corporate Center, Building four, in Sandy Springs. Parents, families, friends and health care professionals are encoruaged to attend to remember the babies that they've lost and help raise awareness of pregnancy and infant loss. Saturday October 11th: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society- The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be hosting a Light the Night Walk it is the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. People can form teams of friends, family and co-workers. The teams then raise funds for cancer research and bring hope to people battling cancer. September 27th and 28th: Duluth Fall Festival- It will be a weekend of fun, food and entertainment and art's and crafts in Historic Downtown Duluth. Saturday September 16th: Dine Out for Kids- Join Communities In Schools or CIS to help kids choose success by Dining out on Tuesday September 16th. Proceeds will help CIS affiliates provide more after-school, youth leadership and literacy programs to help kids succeed in school and prepare for life. Saturday September 13th:Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless- Hosea Feed the Hungry will be hosting its Annual Bike Ride Against Hunger Saturday September 13th from 10AM to 4PM at Turner Field's Blue Parking Lot. Monday September 11th-14th: Sesame Street Live- September 11th-14th at Phillips Arena you can see Sesame Street Live's "When Elmo Grows Up". Watch for cupons at all of our underwriter locations. Opening night Thursday September 11th at 7:00 PM all seats are only $12.

Monday September 8th:Eye Help People See actively campaigns and fundraises to assist the visually impaired with the cost of medication, treatments and transplants. This includes but is not limited to people diagnosed with AK or other optical ailments, and people who have lost their sight due to genetics or trauma-related instances. We hope to provide not only emotional support to victims but also financial assistance to those in need. Monday September 8th at 1:00pm Eye Help People See will be hosting their Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Marietta City Club on Powder Springs Road. Summer 2008: American Red Cross- Due to the continuing summer shortage the Red Cross urges donors to find time to give blood. There is currently a severe shortage throughout our region. There are 14 blood donor centers across Georgia and blood drives are held daily throughout the region. Sunday September 7th: Atlanta Ballet- An open audtion for kids interested in performing in the Nutcracker will be held Sunday September 7th at Atlanta Ballet's Midtown studios located at 1400 West Peachtree Street. Saturday September 6th: Youth Media Minds of America (YMMA)- YMMA is back at it again and ready to meet some fresh, new teens who are eager to learn how they can begin a career in audio or video technolodgy. YMMA will open their doors on Saturday Sept. 6th to parents and teens ages 14-18, for a chance to tour the facility, talk to volunteer instructors and take a sneak peak into the audio, vido and editing classroom environments. August 28th: The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center- As a precursor to the October 31st grand opening of the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, the salvation Army has invited the area's older adults and senior citzens to a day of free fitness and fun. Participants will learn to laugh, relax and refresh themselves as they participate in abbreviated versions of classes in exercise, acting, and dance, soon to be available to them at the Kroc Center Atlanta. In addition each senior citizen will receive free massages and tips on better living from local professionals. August 17th- Sept 9th: Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts, The Ugly Duckling- Join us and the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts for the presentation of “The Ugly Duckling”. In this classic adaptation, “The Ugly Duckling” undertakes a difficult but enlightening journey through the seasons, exploring the big world of the pond and meeting a cast of colorful creatures along the way. August 8th- October18th: Tubman African American Museum- A new exhibition, "The Atlanta Series", is on display at the Tubman African American Museum. The photographs in this special exhibition were taken by Arthur "Bud" Smith. Begining in the aftermath of the assassination of Martin Luther King jr. and ending with the historic presidential campaign of Barrak Obama, the exhibition features more than eighty images and documents the physical, politcal and social evolution of Atlanta, Georgia into a truly international city!
