NCAA Game Summary - Belmont At Santa Clara

Santa Clara, CA -- (Sports Network) - Kevin Foster scored 24 points to lead the Santa Clara Broncos to an 83-80 win over the Belmont Bruins in the opening game of the Cable Car Classic at the Leavey Center. James Rahon also added 15 points for the Broncos (6-7), while Perry Petty and John Bryant chipped in with 11 points apiece. Marc Trasolini checked in with 10 points and nine rebounds. Belmont (5-5) was paced by Matthew Dotson, who scored 18 points in a losing effort. Andy Wicke and Alex Renfroe also got involved, tallying 17 and 16 points, respectively. Belmont got off to a fast start, shooting 51.7 percent from the floor in the first half, to take a 46-28 lead at the break. The Broncos stormed back in the second stanza, shooting 7-of-16 from three- point range to capture the three-point victory. Second half foul shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as Santa Clara outscored Belmont 14-9 from the charity stripe.
