Fiat Nets $27K Parking Ticket In Austria

Car Abandoned In Parking Spot For 2 Years

And you thought your last parking ticket was expensive.

A car left in a short-term parking space in Graz, Austria, for two years was slapped with a fine of euro21,000, or roughly $27,500.

The second-hand Fiat Uno, worth around $6,500, was left in the spot when the two Romanian immigrants who had been using it were arrested and deported, reported the Austrian Times.

Although the owner, who now lives in France, refused to pay the fine, local laws prevent towing cars unless they block traffic.

However, Graz officials are now planning to declare the parking space a construction site, which will allow the city to legally tow the vehicle.
